MBBS ARTHOP: ARTISTS, MUSICIANS NEEDED
In October, MBBS will host its very first ArtHop! ArtHop is a city-wide event which occurs on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month. All galleries and museums open their doors and provide refreshments for the community to gather and support the arts in Fresno. The 1st Thursday is in the Downtown/Tower district area, and the 3rd Thursday is all the rest of Fresno (including MBBS).
If you are Alumni, Faculty/Staff, or Student and do anything artistic, such as painting, drawing, photography, sculpting, etc…and would like to be a part of the show, please contact Rachel Regier at raregier@mbseminary.edu or 452-1704.
We will have live music, so if you, or anyone you know, would like to be a part of that please contact Rachel as well.

MIDDLE EAST LEADER SPEAKING AT FPU
Rev. Andrea Zaki Stephanous, Ph.D., Vice President of the Protestant churches in Egypt and Director of the Dar El Thaqafa Communications House of the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services (CEOSS) in Egypt, and also lecturer at the Evangelical Theological Seminary in Cairo, will be on our university and seminary campuses from August 4 – 9.
On Saturday, August 9, from 10 – 12 a.m., Rev. Stephanous will speak on the topic of "Christian Presence in the Middle East." He will speak in FPU's Steinert Campus Center room 103 (Pioneer-Johanson Conference Room).
This presentation is co-sponsored by the Council of Senior Professionals and the Center for Peacemaking and Conflict Studies. This is a public session, and members of the university and seminary communities are invited to attend.
Rev. Stephanous is coming to Fresno to explore a possible relationship with Fresno Pacific's Center for Peacemaking and Conflict Studies in regard to the development of programs in peacemaking in Egypt, with the possible support also of Mennonite Central Committee. He is planning to take the Basic Institute in Conflict Management and Mediation offered by FPU's Center for Peacemaking from August 4 – 8.
Rev. Stephanous is also scheduled to speak at the Reedley Peace Center on Friday, August 8, on the topic of "Civil Society in the Arab World." The Reedley Peace Center begins its activities at 6:30 p.m. with a meal together, followed by the presentation and conversation. ANABAPTIST DISABILITIES NETWORK: STUDENT ASSOCIATION PROGRAM
Anabaptist Disabilities Network (ADNet) invites students to apply for the position of Student
Associate with ADNet for the 2008-09 academic year.
The Student Associate Program was created by ADNet to encourage college, seminary, and
graduate students to create projects that promote the inclusion of persons with all kinds of
disabilities, including mental illness, into the life of the church and larger community. This
cooperative program contributes to the mission of ADNet and provides benefits to the student, to
persons and families affected by disabilities, and ultimately, to the church as a whole.
An ADNet Student Associate is a college, seminary, or graduate student who
· Develops an education or outreach project around a particular topic related to disabilities,
through a period of study and/or outreach of at least one school year. Students are
encouraged to integrate their studies with existing course work and/or a topic with which
they are already involved.
· Becomes a partner with ADNet by submitting and having approved a project consistent
with and contributing to ADNet’s mission.
· Is responsible to ADNet’s Executive Director for carrying out the project.
· Selects a Faculty Adviser from the student’s educational institution who provides counsel
on the project in collaboration with the Student Associate and the Executive Director.
· Receives a $500 scholarship, payable in two installments of $250 each over the course of
an academic year to the school in which the student is studying. Up to two scholarships
will be awarded each school year to Student Associates whose projects are accepted.

HEBREW 1-2
Hebrew 1-2 is offered at MBBS each year. Due to low enrollment most recently Hebrew 1-2 has been offered as a Directed Study. Another option has been to take Hebrew 1-2 from Fresno Pacific University, where it is currently offered as a whole language course (students learn to speak the language but do less grammar initially). A student has requested that we offer Hebrew 1-2 in the traditional manner for an entire class of students. Offering Hebrew 1-2 in the classical way for a whole class demands that we have 8 (at least 6) students. Please contact Academic Dean Lynn Jost immediately (at least by June 30) if you would like to explore Hebrew 1-2 as a course. The course will be made available if demand is sufficient.
MB Biblical Seminary is offering 1 unit of off-campus lectureship credit for students who attend the Willow Creek Leadership Summit, August 7-8 at Clovis Hills Church Community Church and a follow-up session with our new Assistant Professor of Pastoral Ministries Cory Seibel. Date and times for the follow-up session are forthcoming. Contact your Faculty Advisor or Lori James to register. This is a great opportunity to pick up an extra unit of credit and to get to know our newest faculty member!
