CHAPEL FOR THE COMING WEEK
Clarence Rempel, the candidate for the Professor of Pastoral Ministries position.
CANDIDATE FROM KANSAS ON CAMPUS
Next week, December 10-13, MBBS will welcome Clarence Rempel, who is candidating for the position of Professor of Pastoral Ministries. Copies of his schedule and biographical information can be found in the classroom wing, either in the main lobby, in the BC Lounge, or in the Ontario Lounge.
He will speak in several classes, and in Chapel on Wednesday, the 12th. Common Meal afterwards is FREE for all who come, and he will speak on his journey thus far, and answer any questions.
Students are welcome to any and all meetings. You'll find schedules in the classroom wing.
Student opinions are requested, so forms will be available throughout the classroom wing for feedback.
Clarence Rempel is a 1978 graduate from MBBS with an M.Div. and has served three churches in the Mennonite Church in the last thirty years, currently lead pastor at First Mennonite Church in Newton, KS. His wife, Amanda, is chaplain in a senior care facility. They have four adult children. Clarence earned a D.Min. from Asbury Seminary in 2004.

SENIOR SEMINAR MEETING
A meeting for those who will be in Senior Seminary for Spring 2008 will be held at noon on December 6th. What does it involve? They will distribute and review the syllabus, discuss possible topics and texts, and review expectations for work started prior to class. If unable to attend, please let Delores Friesen or Valerie Rempel know.
CROSS-CULTURAL ENCOUNTER/COUNSELING MEETING
Students taking Cross-Cultural Encounter/Counseling during January 2008 will meet on December 13th at 11:30 in the Oklahoma Room. The meeting was previously set for 11:45, however, we are hoping to make the meeting shorter and start a little earlier. We plan to be done by 12:30. The aim of the meeting is to situate the course in a theological and therapeutic context. We will also distribute the packing list, the daily schedule, and take suggestions for churches to visit on the two Sundays in LA.
2008 FULLER SYMPOSIUM
The 2008 Fuller Symposium on the Integration of Faith and Psychology will be held Wednesday to Friday, February 20-22 at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena. Students and faculty from MBBS and FPU will be attending. Lectureship credit may be available and many classes will be offering extra credit for attendance. There is no charge to attend but housing is filling up quickly. FPU has been able to obtain a group rate at a nearby hotel but reservations should be in THIS WEEK. HONDURAS CROSS-CULTURAL ENCOUNTER/COUNSELING
requirement through doing an June 5-15, 2008 for 1.5 units. Students now have the option of meeting half of their CCEMBBS International CCE course. The first one will be June 5-15, 2008. Mark Baker will take a group of students to Honduras. The main focus of the trip will be studying Galatians in a bi-lingual and interactive setting with Central American seminary students from the Latin American Anabaptist seminary from June 9-14. Special attention will be given to pastoral and missional application of the text. MBBS students will also visit both rural and urban Christian community development projects, including Amor Fe y Vida Church.
Students with interest in the CCE Honduras trip should be alert to a change in the cost of the trip. The cost of the Honduras trip will include tuition plust a course fee of $350 plus airfare. Our first announcement did not include mention of the course fee. Please accept our apologies for unclear communication. Please contact Mark Baker if you have interest in CCE Honduras.

FULLER THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY + ANABAPTIST MISSIOLOGY
Fuller Theological Seminary is planning on offering a special course on Anabaptist missiology, and has invited MBBS, AMBS, EMU and other schools to participate. The course will be offered on Fuller's campus, and will run from July 21 to August 1, 2008, from 8 a.m. to noon. MBBS students will be given a discount, and will be able to take the course for $700. Depending on the number of students who register, lodging may be available through Pasadena Mennonite Church and/or regular Fuller students. JANUARY INTENSIVES
MBBS is offering two courses designed for the preparation of both pastors and spouses. Both will be offered this January, as spring intensives. Please register for these by November 30 to avoid late fees.
The first is "Married to Ministry" and will be taught by special guest lecturer Dawn Penner. Married to ministry will encourage students to "explore the principles of self, call, and support in the context of being married to a minister." This course will run from January 14-18. Spouses of current students are especially encouraged to attend, and can register for the course at a greatly reduced rate - only $25! For more information, click here.
The other course is "Evangelism and Church Planting," and will be taught by Victor Wiens, who recently returned from extended service as a missionary in Brazil. The course is designed to help each student "develop understanding and skills according to his/her giftedness, ministry calling, educational needs and cultural context." ADVENT WEBSITE
Rob Devens, an M.Div. graduate of MBBS, has created a website which blends art, scripture, and writing to help people meditate on the life of Christ. There is also an advent section, and the Ways of the Cross/Stations of the Cross. Click here to visit.
GRANT AVAILABLE FOR PASTORS
The Lilly Endowment, through its National Clergy Renewal Program, makes grants of up to $45,000 available to support an extended time of Sabbath rest and renewal for the pastor and his or her family, and to support their congregations in renewal activities. This program is open to Christian congregations that are served by a pastor having a Master of Divinity degree from an accredited Association of Theological Schools seminary. BOOKSTORE HOURS
The FPU bookstore will be open until December 21st, and will reopen December 31st. They follow the same schedule as the main offices of the university, so if they are open, the bookstore will be too. The bookstore will be buying back books December 10th-14th.
LIBRARY HOURS
Hiebert Library, in its efforts to meet student needs, opens on Sunday nights near the end of each semester. The library is happy to announce that it will be open Sunday nights, December 2nd and 9th, from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. Kindly be advised that students need to checkout books at least 15 minutes prior to closing time. Contact the library regarding special holiday and end of semester hours at 453-2090.

The Dean of Students is responsible for student life and related student development programs and services. This office serves as a resource for students, members of the faculty and staff regarding general student life issues. The Dean of Students is responsible for providing opportunities for students' personal, social, and spiritual growth consistent with the mission of MBBS.
Oversees: Counseling Services, Accommodations, Student Activities, Disability Accommodations, Ministry Discernment, and Job Placement.

CHANGE IN PAYMENT POLICY
Change in Installment payment plan policy: We will only accept arrangements to make payments by credit card or automatic withdrawal from checking accounts on a monthly basis until the end of the semester. The reason for this is so we can set up the payments automatically and we don't have to track them manually. ACCESS LIBRARY RESOURCES FROM HOME
MBBS and FPU are excited to announce the arrival of the new Hiebert Library proxy server. MBBS students will no longer be required to be physically in the Hiebert Library in order to access online periodicals and resources such as JSTOR, ERIC, and Thesaurus Linguae Graecae. Now MBBS students can go to ez.fresno.edu and log in with the seminary's name and password from anywhere in the world.
